Weekly Standouts: Leland Walker, Sarp Coşkun & Deyton Albury

Two professional debuts in Bulgaria. A 28-point statement in Türkiye. Our picks from September 14–20, 2026 put three guards in focus: Leland Walker, Sarp Coşkun and Deyton Albury. Each earned a closer look, whether his team advanced or went home. Here are the numbers, the game context and the highlights.
Leland Walker — 29 in his pro debut, then a record-breaking week
September 16 · Salon Vilpas 90–87 Patrioti Levice · Basketball Champions League qualifiers
Walker opened his professional career with 29 points, four rebounds and four assists in Samokov. He made 10 of 21 shots, including 3 of 5 from three, and went 6 of 6 at the line. Vilpas had to recover after surrendering an early 17-point advantage and falling nine behind in the fourth quarter. Walker and D.J. Jeffries supplied 55 of the Finnish side’s 90 points.

The debut was only the start. Walker scored 33 against Bakken Bears on September 18, then 42 in Sunday’s 98–96 qualification final win over Oradea. His final set a BCL qualifying-round single-game scoring record, and his two free throws with 0.8 seconds left decided the game. Across the three wins, he totaled 104 points: 34.7 per game. Vilpas reached the BCL regular season for the first time.

That is a substantial opening week for a rookie arriving from Wyoming, after earlier stops at Eastern Kentucky and Florida Atlantic. Three games cannot establish a season-long level, but this was more than an isolated scoring burst: Walker kept producing as the stakes increased. The film below captures the 29-point debut, not the later 42-point final.

Sarp Coşkun — 28 points in a double-overtime win
September 19 · Gaziantep Basketbol 91–89 Finalspor (2OT) · Türkiye Sigorta TBL
Cengiz Sarp Coşkun led Gaziantep with 28 points and four rebounds as the hosts survived two extra periods. Gaziantep trailed 70–60 with four and a half minutes remaining in regulation, recovered to 74–74 and eventually won 91–89. For the 19-year-old guard who came through Bahçeşehir, it was a strong night against senior competition.
The scoring breakdown matters: 6 of 8 on two-pointers and 13 of 16 at the foul line, alongside three steals and just one turnover in 34 minutes, as recorded with our highlight reel. He shot 1 of 5 from three, so this was not a hot perimeter shooting night. The production came primarily inside the arc and at the line—a useful distinction when assessing the 28-point total.
Deyton Albury — an all-around introduction with Fribourg
September 16 · Fribourg Olympic 85–86 BC Batumi 2010 · Basketball Champions League qualifiers
Albury’s professional debut ended in a one-point defeat, but his individual contribution stood out: 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Fribourg entered the fourth quarter down 68–58 and outscored Batumi 27–18 in the final period. The comeback brought the Swiss club close, but not through to the next round.

The Bahamian guard made 8 of 14 field-goal attempts in 24:47, with four of his eight rebounds coming on the offensive glass. Add a steal and a block, and the line shows involvement well beyond scoring. For a guard beginning his club career in Europe, contributing extra possessions while carrying that offensive load is an encouraging starting point—not a reason to overlook the team’s elimination.

Three performances worth following
Walker delivered the week’s biggest sustained scoring statement. Coşkun showed how much a guard can produce without relying on the three-point shot. Albury filled several parts of the box score in a narrow loss. Different results, different routes to impact—and three names to keep watching as the season develops.
